MYTH CAFE

Awesome barista! I stumbled upon this gem as it is not very visible on maps. The owner is very friendly, welcoming, and speaks very good English! You can get cold brew, pour over, and the usual espresso drinks here. A few seasonal specials as well and a handful of food items such as scones and french toast. Coffee lover heaven.

Owner is really crazy, crazy about coffee and crazy about being nice to customers. Please do yourself a favor and visit this place in Koenji. Owner speaks english, is very kind and talkative. Please note that is a small place with few seats, so if you plan to stay for a while dont go during rush hours as it might be full (there is take out too, but taking a seat and enjoying the view of the owner making coffee and the architecture of the place is something i would not skip). Delicious coffee and variety of origins to pick.

By far one of the best coffees I’ve had in Tokyo! What makes it really stand out is the owner, super knowledgeable and passionate about what he does and that’s reflected in the coffee and amazing service.

Very nice experience - highly recommend it, if you can go grab a coffee or a chai there.

Don’t missed out Myth Cafe if you are in Koenji. Very friendly boss, able to communicate in English, good coffee, lovely chocolate bar and chewy mochi in kinako powder .

Very nice place with a good english-speaking owner/barista, who apparently loves his café and job. Thanks for hosting us and letting us to charge our phones (surprisingly we were rejected couple of times during our Japan travels)

I found this cafe after reading a few reviews online about places to explore in Koenji. I got a bit lost because of the narrow streets but the smell of coffee along the street brought me to my destination. The menu is rather large, and I appreciate that there is both Japanese and English so that we can check our reading comprehension . Ordered the espresso tonic and I must say this is the first ever cafe where I've been offered an extra shot of espresso because for those of us who drink espresso tonics, we all know what an unpleasant experience it is to have watered down tonic and coffee at the end of the cup. I'd give the owner/barista 6 stars for this - for having the insight to offer his customers a pleasant experience to the last drop. Because the espresso tonic was so pleasant, I went ahead and ordered a cascara mojito and I'll say that the beverage was also above and beyond my expectations. I generally stay away from cascara because 1. it makes me dizzy and 2. the cascara teas I've had before range from colored water to colored sour water. This beverage was excellent - well balanced and smooth on the palate. There was a slightly bitter/tannic taste but it married well with the sugar from the cascara syrup. All in all, a highly innovative beverage and I'll be sure to pass by this cafe whenever I pass through Koenji.
